White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt was slammed Thursday morning as a “liar” after she posted a tweet about President Donald Trump’s Big, Beautiful Bill. The bill, which has passed through the Senate and now awaits a vote in the House of Representatives, has been Trump’s focus since regaining office in January.

“Anyone who votes AGAINST the One Big Beautiful Bill is voting AGAINST: No Tax on Tips, No Tax on Overtime, No Tax on Social Security,” wrote Leavitt. Users who were infuriated with Leavitt’s post added context to it to explain that the press secretary was misinformed.

According to the blurb, the information posted by the X users was derived straight from the bill itself. In response to the tweet, Leavitt was slammed in her comments section.

“There is no provision in this bill whatsoever to remove tax from Social Security,” one person said. “That’s a lie. No tax on tips is sharply limited for people whose primary income relies on tips; they will hit the limit very quickly. It’s only $18,000.”

“So that’s a lie,” they added. “No tax on overtime is also a lie. There’s a strict limit to claiming this of $12,500. Many workers will hit this limit very quickly, so that, too, is a lie. So why are you lying? No tax on overtime is also very limited, so people who put in a lot of overtime or get little advantage from this.”

“Lies. It does not eliminate those taxes,” another person added. “It offers limited deductions with caps and excludes ‘high earners.’ There is NO provision to remove taxes on Social Security. I’M SICK OF LIES. STOP IT.”

“Do you lie on purpose, or does it just come naturally?” a third person said snidely. “No tax on Social Security is a lie. Tips and overtime will be taxed after 2028. Maybe MAGA will figure it out,” a fourth added.

The harsh responses from X users come after Trump himself lashed out at rebellious Republicans in the latest voting stage of his “Big Beautiful Bill,” or what others like to call the “Big Ugly Bill.” Taking to his Truth Social platform, Trump warned that “MAGA IS NOT HAPPY.”

Trump wrote, “Largest Tax Cuts in History and a Booming Economy vs. Biggest Tax Increase in History, and a Failed Economy. What are the Republicans waiting for??? What are you trying to prove??? MAGA IS NOT HAPPY, AND IT’S COSTING YOU VOTES!!!”

After a close lot of votes due to the stalling of the Republican “rebels,” the House is now debating the bill on the floor before proceeding to final passage. Trump has repeatedly stated that he wants to sign the bill into law by July 4, which is Friday.

According to reports, in the last round before the final vote, Republicans could only afford to lose three votes to advance the legislation.
