The Britain’s Got Talent star has built a vast property empire but hasn’t always been the best landlord to his tennants.

Britain’s Got Talent star Stephen Mulhern is one of the most recognisable faces on television. Having begun his career in 1997 as a presenter on children’s shows Finger Tips and Tricky TV, he caught the eye of ITV bosses and moved on to more mainstream work, including Britain’s Got More Talent, Animals Do the Funniest Things, and featuring on This Morning.
However, Stephen is much more than just a spirited TV presenter and part-time magician. The Catchphrase host, 48, has built a huge property empire worth more than £2.2 million, and is worth an overall of more than £ 7 million. Not bad for someone who was once kicked out of The Magic Circle for revealing a magic trick on TV. The star set up his own company, Blue Eye Productions, in 2002, and has seen its bank balance increase to £4,834,441, according to documents filed with Companies House.
In addition to his TV work, Stephen has also taken measures to ensure he’s got money coming in from a string of shrewd investment choices. He was the owner of property firm, JFDI Productions, with which he had six homes on the books worth more than £2.2 million.

Land Registry commercial ownership previously showed the firm had purchased two properties in South Leicester, one for £199,500, and another for £165, two flats in South West London, one for £753,000, and the other for £640,000, a house in Essex for £290,000, and a flat, also in Essex for £202,000.
And that’s not including his own luxe property in London, which he purchased in 2013 for £910,000. Given the rate properties in the capital increases, it’s safe to guess it is now probably worth much, much more.
However, according to public documents, Stephen resigned as director of JFDI in October 2024. It followed news that one of his tenants was living in squalor, and the bungalow they rented in Leicester was riddled with mould and damp. Speaking to the Big Issue, the resident revealed he felt “bitter and alienated” after living in those conditions for two years.

The man, who wished to remain nameless, said that he and his flatmate had complained to the management agency multiple times, but no action was taken. He called Mulhern “a millionaire, profiting off our misery”.
Following the revelations, a representative for Stephen said he was “absolutely mortified” and had instructed a specialist damp team to fix the problem. They added that he had been unaware of the issues and had relied on the company he had employed to manage the property.
