Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders has come out against AI regulation in the Trump administration-supported “Big Beautiful Bill” currently before Congress.
The governor published an opinion piece in The Washington Post on Thursday, voicing support for the bill, except for one change made by Congress affecting Artificial Intelligence (AI) regulation. Congress has added a provision, Sanders said, that removes the ability of states to regulate AI for 10 years.

“Congress should strip this provision from the bill before it goes to President Trump’s desk to preserve federalism — and protect our country from completely unregulated AI,” Sanders stated.
The governor continues by pointing out that Arkansas passed AI regulations, including preventing non-consensual use of someone’s likeness and preventing creation of sexually explicit images.
“States like Tennessee, Illinois and Utah have created similar guidelines,” the governor wrote. “These are changes that every state and Congress should get behind.”
Sanders said that preventing the Arkansas laws from going into effect, coupled with the “glacial movement” of Congress, would leave Arkansans unprotected.

The governor continued to thank Sens. Josh Hawley (R-Missouri) and Marsha Blackburn (R-Tennessee) for their ongoing opposition to the legislation.
