CNN Chief White House Correspondent and frequent Trump antagonist Kaitlan Collins has called out the president for his ‘broken promises’ in the ‘Big Beautiful Bill,’ marking the latest salvo in their long-running feud.
On Monday’s episode of her show The Source, she played a supercut featuring several comments from the president promising to not cut Medicaid in the bill, which narrowly passed in the Senate on Tuesday.
That version of the bill would in fact strip funding from the federal health insurance program over a decade, and Collins played a total of eight clips to make her case.
All showed Trump appearing to promise the more than 12 million people enrolled in Medicare and Medicaid benefits that their coverage would continue.
The Senate version of the bill is set to reduce federal spending on Medicaid by roughly $1 trillion, pushing those people off the program by 2034.
‘Here’s what the President said just last week about this bill,’ Collins said in her segment.
‘We’re cutting $1.7 trillion in this bill, and you’re not going to feel any of it. And your Medicaid is left alone,’ Trump was shown telling reporters from the East Room of the White House Thursday.
Several older clips were played as well.

Collins’s broadcast served as the latest instance of tension between her and Trump
One showed Trump forcefully telling reporters in the Oval Office in January: ‘Medicaid, we’re not going to do anything with that.’
‘Medicare and Medicaid, none of that stuff is going to be touched,’ he added in a another statement in February
‘We’re not cutting Medicaid,’ he said in another.
‘Regardless of whether you agree with adding things, like work requirements for Medicaid, as this bill does, Medicaid would not technically be, quote, “Left the same,”‘ Collins commented.
She then explained how the version of the bill passed Tuesday ‘would reduce federal support for that program by about $930 billion’ over a decade.
‘That’s according to the Congressional Budget Office, which also projects 11.8 million more people would be left without health insurance,’ Collins said.
The anchor then homed in on North Carolina Republican Sen. Thom Tillis’s bashing of the bill on Sunday, when he said on the Senate floor: ‘I cannot support this bill in its current form.’
It ‘will betray the very promise that [Trump] made in the Oval Office, or in the Cabinet room, when I was there,’ he said.

North Carolina Republican Sen. Thom Tillis’s bashing the bill on the Senate floor Sunday, an outburst that saw Trump threaten to meet with potential primary challengers ahead of Tillis’s reelection next year. Tillis, on Monday, announced he no longer intends to run as a result
Trump immediately responded with a Truth Social post that threatened to meet with potential challengers to Tillis in the 2026 GOP primary.
A day later, Tillis revealed he would not seek re-election.
‘When Senator Tillis is speaking about broken promises, he’s talking about all the times the president made comments like this,’ Collins said, referring to the sound bites.
The bill passed in the Senate Tuesday by a razor-thin margin of 51-50.
Before he can signed it into law, it will head back to the House of Representatives, which will resolve the differences between the bill’s multiple versions.
Collins’s broadcast served as the latest instance of tension between her and Trump.
Last week, the two had a testy back-and-forth during a press conference at a NATO summit in the Netherlands, where Trump ripped CNN as ‘fake news CNN’ after calling on Collins to ask a question.
They also had a heated exchange aboard Air Force One on June 16 after Collins floated a series of questions about the conflict erupting between Israel and Iran.
